what is different between mechanical engineering to reverse engineering?

  1. reverse engineering is taking an item apart and machining each part to build the item.
mechanical engineering would be more alone the line of building the item from the ground up

  2. I guess mechanical engineering is anything that deal with building machines or figuring how they work.

Reverse engineering is when you have a product(already finished) and you are trying to take it apart to learn how it works or how it was created and it doesn’t have to deal with machines or anything. (ex. Let say you want to know how to make your mom’s famous chocolate-chip cookie but doesn’t want to ask for her recipe, so you asked her to baked you some and you start to figure out by examine the cookies to see how she makes them, so you can make them too. That’s reverse engineering.)

  3. Mechanical engineering can cover a wide variety of activities from engines, pumps and compressor to boilers, generators and power plants to pressure vessels, heat exchangers and HVAC systems as well as other things.

Reverse engineering is really only the act of copying something that all ready exists.
